In many countries, the lack of basic hygiene practices like hand washing often leads to fatal infection or disease. Thousands of children die every day of preventable diseases because they and others in their community have not been trained in the simple methods of breaking disease pathways.

Hygiene training is a major key in fighting water related disease.

Studies show that:

  • 51 per cent reduction in diarrhea cases can be achieved through access and use of proper latrines
  • 35 per cent though proper sanitation
  • 32 per cent through the practice of hand washing

When we start a water project at a village or a school, we also deliver hygiene training.  The focus of our training is to communicate ways to break the disease pathway.  In addition we provide "hands on" training in how to make tippy taps (hand washing devices).
